Release, Recover & Renew

An eight-module journey into recovery, self-care, and healing through Qigong, personal stories, and the wisdom of lived experience.

Created by Steven Washington, author of Recovering You.

Recovery begins with learning to care for yourself.

What if healing isn't about fixing yourself?

When we think about addiction recovery, we often focus on what needs to stop.

The drinking. The using. The harmful behaviors and patterns.

But recovery also invites us to ask a different set of questions.

How do we begin to trust ourselves again?

How do we work through fear, shame, and isolation?

How do we build healthier relationships, recognize our needs, and learn to receive support?

And if we love someone struggling with addiction, how do we care for them without abandoning ourselves?

These are some of the questions at the heart of Release, Recover & Renew.

This program brings together recovery-centered teachings, Qigong, personal reflection, and conversations with people who have walked their own paths of recovery.

It's an invitation to approach healing with greater awareness, compassion, and care.

A Personal Note from Steven

I created Release, Recover & Renew during the early years of sharing my recovery journey and teaching online.

At the time, I wanted to offer something that went beyond information about addiction.

I wanted to create an experience where people navigating recovery could recognize themselves, feel less alone, and discover tools to support their well-being.

I also wanted the people who love them to gain a deeper understanding of what recovery can feel like, while remembering that their own self-care matters, too.

So I brought together some of the practices that had supported my journey, including Qigong, reflective writing, and mindful self-inquiry. I also invited friends from my recovery community to share their experiences and wisdom.

This work eventually became source material for my book, Recovering You.

And when I look at it today, I can see the seeds of so much of what I now share through JingCovery.

The importance of learning to trust ourselves. The healing power of connection. The relationship between our bodies and our emotional lives. And the belief that caring for ourselves is not selfish. It's essential.

I'm delighted to share this experience with you.

The Roots of Recovering You

Before I wrote Recovering You, I created Release, Recover & Renew.

The teachings and experiences in this program helped shape the ideas that would eventually become my book, published by New World Library.

Today, the course offers an opportunity to explore those foundational themes through video teachings, Qigong, self-inquiry, and the perspectives of people who generously shared their recovery experiences.

It's an important part of the journey that ultimately led me to create JingCovery.
